SVFD Elects New Chief; Syme Ends 22 Year Term
Jun 1 -- After 22 years as Chief, Daniel Syme made the difficult choice not to seek re-election, and the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department voted Anthony Kasacek Jr. as his successor. The incoming Chief is a 32 year veteran of the department, and has previously served as a Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and Deputy Chief. The departing Chief leaves behind a legacy he has created through his endless dedication to bettering the services the SVFD provides to Scotland and the surrounding communites. The membership of the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department congratulates Tony Kasacek on his new position, and sincerly thanks Dan Syme for all he has done during his 22 years as Chief, and his 39 years as a member.

Town of Vernon Fire Department Recognized for Support of SVFD
Mar 9 -- SVFD President Ray Arnott presented Town of Vernon Chief William Call with a plaque in recognition of his department's support of the SVFD's acquisition of Tower 141, which would become Tower 116. "The Scotland Volunteer Fire Department is grateful to the Town of Vernon Fire Department for their support in allowing our department the privilege of owning this apparatus, and appreciates the doors that have opened by doing so", stated Arnott.
